  • Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Lion

We went to the YWP near Doncaster last weekend. These lions were rescued from Romania.

I was a long way from them and was using my Fuji HS10 with the zoom full out 700mm+ so I was quite pleased with the results.

I think they are too well fed now as all 13 of them were asleep. There were 3 Prides in 3 different areas.

I know they are all similar, but I saw more here 15 miles away from home than I did in South Africa, last year.

The fourth one for me, good set but it must have been frustrating for them all to be kipping!

        4 for me as well.
Typical of cats ... sleeping when you want them to do something

          I too like #4.

I know in India when folk go on trips to see the tigers, it is rare to see them.

Whenever I try and get a shot of a lion or tiger at these places there is either a wire fence in the way or they are hiding under a tree
Good job, better than any Ive got!

Thanks Ash, I know what you mean. The fact is there is a manmade hillock for people to stand on so that we were on the same level as the lions. When my daughter and grandson went, the lions were awake and very near to the railing!

Snoozing like a couple of lounge lizards! Nice pics! Maybe if you had gone to parks near Kruger, like Sabi Sands, you may have seen more lions last year! It also depends on time of the year....whether grass is long or not, plus time of day! Did you go on any of the evening game drives at all? If you have a look at Africam, you can see how close the accommodation is to the waterhole & can imagine the amazing sights visitors get of the animals coming to drink!!
