Went to a wedding last week and took a stroll in nearby fields. There's Art everywhere.

Or did you intend everything to be dark apart from the sofa?

Sounds as though you are seeing it as intended Ash. it was taken very late in the evening, and a very damp evening to boot. On my Mac the background is dark but with all the trees visible but without great clarity and obviously not sharp.
The couch is brightish (with a little help from me) and is meant to be shouting out it's statement. The isolation of the couch and it's message in this ridiculous environment is what appeals to me.
So don't be alarmed, after all it's art.

That is what I am seeing so at least our monitors are calibrated the same.
