  • Lots of Butterflies...

    ...well not that many.

Anne and I have spent the last few days in our usual butterfly haunts and were a little surprised not to see some species we took last year. Plenty of Blues and Whites though. Perhaps the harsh winter kept numbers low this year.

I have shown these on the sister site www.fourthirds-user.com too.

Small Copper such a pretty face

    Red Admiral well almost.

    ...feasting on Damsons.

    Common Blue

    Speckled Wood

    Comma

    Green Veined White

    Gatekeeper

    and finally Chalkhill Blue

    Taken with E-3 + 50-200 and 1.4 converter - a nice combination.

    I hope you enjoyed them.

    Regards. Barr1e

Gorgeous series - the chalkhill blue for me, lovely contrast between the underside of the wings and the vibrant blue above.

Excellent stuff barrie, we were fortunate enough to witness one hatching from its cocoon hung on our mailbox Ann had noticed a caterpillar some weeks ago, then came the hard cocoon then as we were leaving the house last week the little chap was breaking out, awsome to see, thomas got some shots off.
They cant actually fly straight away as their wings are damp from the cocoon, he dropped to the floor so we placed him safe and sound on a bush.
        Ash.

Lovely mixed selection. I favour the blue out of them all.

The Green Veined White stand out from the rest a beautiful shot, I'm a tad envious of that one.
