  • Low Tide at Penmon

Been playing with some shots taken in Angelsey and especially experimenting with Lightroom. I've recently discovered how to do rounded corners and this is an example

Hi Stephen. The picture looks great. Was it easy to achieve?

      Re: Low Tide at Penmon

      Hello,

I think the picture is excellent. For me there are two components that make the picture. One is the orange algae in the foreground that lifts the scene, the second is the light beams in the distance.

As regards the curved edges it is just a personal thing but it makes the photograph look like a table mat. A very nice table mat.

I am getting increasingly confused about the role of Lightroom. It would appear that for the majority of editing if you own lightroom you don't need PS elements. I can see the difference between LR and CS5 but I don't need the power of CS5.

      best regards

Thanks for commenting ekkl and Josh.
The rounded corner effect is very easy to achieve actually. The best way to explain it is give you a link to where I discovered it. Check out Matt Klowskowskis Blog

Josh, I have found that I can do nearly all my editing in LR. Not having to use PS as well makes life easier. It is of course much more than simply an editing program, but the range of things that can be achieved with it now is simply amazing

I just love this photo Stephen, perhaps it is the naturalness of it.

Not sure about the rounded corners, but I did have a go and found them very easy to make following your link to Matt's video.

I probably would use them, but not sure where yet. Got to do Year 5 as our youngest grandson is 6 this month and I have picked out the most suitable pics of him each year since he was born just showing his progress. I think I might try these rounded corners on the collage this year.

          Thanks for that.

Thanks Audrey, glad you like it. I'm not sure about the rounded corners either, maybe if they were a little smaller. It was worth experimenting though. Good luck with your card

              I agree. A super pic.

As for the corners - I enjoy driving round them.

I think the corners are to rounded. I suspect a more gentle effect would be better. Its always good to experiment with something new though.
