Elephants in London (Lots of photos)

Dear All,

During May and June there were 250 elephants dotted all over London. Each of the model elephants was the size of an adolescent elephant and they were decorated by an artist or celebrity to make them look the part for the Elephant Parade itself. The 250 plus model elephants in London were then auctioned off at Sotheby’s to raise money for the Elephant Family charity.

We picked up an elephant map and then spent a number of weekends just wandering and taking pictures of the elephants. The children loved the “hunt” especially when we found Cloudia, an elephant that was moved everyday.

Josh, this seems like a fantastic family photo project and a great idea to get you all out with the camera. Difficult to pick a favourite, I like them all

Nice set Josh. Are you using your Pen and the Diorama (tilt/shift) Art Filter on some of these? If so, an inspired use of the feature!

yes it was the pen Ian and the diorama filter seemed to suit the subject matter well.

Stephen, it was a very enjoyable family photo project. in this photo you can see my 7 year old looking for the best composition

It's a real shame the elephant project has finished as Julia and the children, plus a guest from France, are just this minute on the way to London for a day out! They would have loved this.

What a splendid idea for family fun especially during school holidays. Did you find them all!
There is a similar project currently underway featuring rhino's .. somewhere?

The Rhino project is in Chester. I think it goes on until the end of August - not 100% certain of the dates.

No didn't find them all unfortunately. We have been back to London since and really miss seeing them.

If Boris Johnson is reading this. Come on Boris bring back the elephants!

Forget Boris, the southern softies and their elephants.

Pack the family into the car and haddaway up to Chester and photograph the rhinos. I just checked and you have until Sept 12th.

Thanks for the link Pol. They look great. Just shown the family and now i am being bombarded with rhino visit requests.

The kids are getting the calendar off the wall to see if we have a free weekend!

LOL ... I'm sure they'd have a great time so hopefully you'll be able to fit in a trip.

Chester's such a good place too so you'll be spoilt for choice as to where you can flick-a-pic.
