  • Lower Slaughter - 3 versions

    Dear all

After taking some time away from computers in the evening (I have to use them in the day for work) post my eyesight correction I am a bit behind with processing my pictures. This one was taken over the last bank holiday in Lower Slaughter.

I used a canon 5d mark 2. With a lee big stopper filter. You can see the movement in the clouds and trees and of course the movement in the water has been smoothed out I have processed three different ways. See what you think. I like the colour one the best.

    Best regards

    Josh

Yeah No3 would be my choice but No1 comes a very close second.
    Lovely scene

Your getting the hang of this stopper now No1 for me. Two things you have over me with that filter is you can do colour and your trees don't come out white I'll have to get round to getting one of these filters at some point in my life Good work Josh.

Hi Josh, have you had laser treatment on your eyes?

I like the first one too. The second is lacking some contrast. The colour version is nice too.

Now what you need is a day with moving clouds but no wind to blur the trees

          thanks All,

Andrew, i'm still no where near getting photographs with the impact yours have. I am enjoying the filter though and it has given my tripod a whole new lease of life and brought the canon out of retirement caused by my love affair with the olympus EP range

          Hello Ian,

Yes I have had my eyes lasered. 17 seconds on each eye to be precise and now I don't need glasses. Loving it, although I am still reaching up to straighten glasses that aren't there.

Didnt feel a thing. No discomfort or pain at all during the procedure and two weeks afterwards all seems fine. I have a checkup next week but the day afterwards my vision was 20 12 which apparently is better than 20 20.

          Best regards

You're a braver one than me!

That said, I did wear contacts for a good few years (the current trend for small and lightweight specs has made contacts less must-have ), and before wearing contacts I couldn't contemplate sticking my fingers in my eyes every day, but I did and it became second nature.

I have lateral astigmatism in both eyes, which probably could be fixed by lasering, but a) can't afford it, but b) I'm far too cluck cluck!

At 49 I'm now getting the inevitable symptoms of age related long-sightedness or presbyopia. It's not too bad, I don't yet need bifocals, but I notice it when I'm tired. Laser surgery can't help this either.

Agree laser surgery can't help you not be tired They can sort prebyopia though and indeed handle a need for bi focals. What they do is use the laser for different times in each eye and then your brain sorts out the image. I used the London Vision clinic as I wanted a surgeon with a long track record. I used the same people as phillip schofield (his video diary of the day is online) so they must be good!

Seriously though, they were lots of tests before and then long conversations on side effects with various people in the team there including the surgeon. On balance and given the evidence I made a choice for me and this of course won't be the right choice for everyone. I am enjoying not lifting glasses out of the way for taking pictures, not needing to reach for glasses in the morning before I can see what time it is, not getting rain drops blocking my vision and the classic not having to swap between glasses and sun glasses when going in and out of buildings.

              Best Regards

Not sure whether this is a Specsavers thread or talking about clouds.

Anyway, what happened to good old fluffy white clouds in a clear blue sky?

I love fluffy clouds. Just a constant stream of grey ones on that day though

Ps glad I didn't go to spec savers. They lost my glasses during a simple repair. Wouldn't want them anywhere near my eyes with a laser.

                  Best regards
