  • Dunstanborough revisited

I've just been looking through some photos taken last year at Dunstanborough in the NE of England. Its amazing how when you look at shots again you can be inspired to rework them, when originally you didn't bother.

This shot was exposed at -1 EV, mainly in order to keep the sky looking reasonable. However in Lightroom I have been able to increase exposure by almost 2 EV and hold the sky back by using the graduated filter tool and a post crop vignette. I also decided to crop some off the top, and just to keep the tower vertical I rotated and cropped a little. This allowed me to put the tower exactly on a third. Anyway, I felt the end result was much better than the original shot and it was worth sharing.

Hi definitely worth sharing. I love pictures with layers and here you have water, big rocks, small rocks and then sky. Different textures that work well.

    Best regards

Ps. Lying in bed with family still asleep typing on an apple iPad. It's great for this sort of job

Hi Josh, thanks for the comment. I've checked back at the original thread I did on these shots, it was exactly a year ago, spooky.
Use this board to post your photos and to tell us about the scene you set out to capture. Don't forget that the best place for *critique* in order see how your photography might be improved, technically, remains the Image Insight Photo critique board.

Oddly enough, I'm sat up in bed too, on my MacBook Pro. Couldn't sleep, think its too warm

        Apple rules

I am having problems sleeping this week. On Tuesday I had braces fitted and they are rubbing my mouth like you wouldn't believe. Then on Thursday I had my eyes lasered so they are still a bit sore. Hopefully worth it though. No more pushing glasses out of the way to take pictures

I turn 40 next year and my wife thinks I am prepping for a mid life crisis. Sports car, teeth straightened, eyes lasered. She thinks the next step is a twenty something model / singer

        Best regards
