  • Aston Martin Vantage

    Dear All,

took a day off work today and after it became obvious I wasn't going to haul myself out of bed for sunrise I choose to go for a drive around Henley on Thames and associated country side.

Decided to use the 5d Mark 2 today since the Pen has been getting all my attention of late.

    I have a few more here http://www.pbase.com/joshbear/aston_martin&page=all

and more that I have not yet processed I will update the thread when they are done.

I choose a B&W conversion for most as the colour of the car lends itself to this treatment. IMHO.

    I hope you enjoy.

    Best Regards

    Josh

All great photos of a great car Josh. I noticed on your PBase site you had applied some vignette to some and I think this works well. The last shot particularly needs some extra interest injecting into it to make it a bit more edgy. The B/W ones work but just lack that extra bit of ooomph that the car deserves.

        Re: Aston Martin Vantage

Thanks for the guidance Stephen. Really appreciated. I get what you mean about oomph. I am struggling with post processing at the moment. There are loads of great books about photography and how to use Photoshop etc. But I have never found one that talks to post processing ideas.

A gap in the market if anyone has the time and skill.

I will go back and see if I can do these pictures more justice.

        Thanks again

Do you use Lightroom, I can't remember. I have found that I can get much of what I want by playing with the controls.

            hi

Yes, convert from raw to tiff in lightroom then move to elements 9 for anything else.

            Best regards

              Re: Aston Martin Vantage

Great car Josh - They are all nice shots but I think the B&W treatment tends to minimise the impact of the shape by softening the panel transistions. DOn't know if I am explaining it well but the colour one works the best for me even though the car is almost monochrome itself. The derelict building setting is just a classic and it works.

                The colour one for me.
Can't help but wonder though who would be daft enough to park something so beautiful alongside a building that looks like its going to fall to bits at any time....

                  Re: Aston Martin Vantage

I'll swop on of my lenses for the car as my old banger is approaching 12 years. She is still looking good but not as good as an Aston Martin.

I also prefer the one in colour. I wish my taking of cars was as good as yours.

                  Regards. Barr1e

                    Thanks for the comments all

upon relection I am pretty disappointed with the post processing I did. I did not spend enough time looking at what could be done. So I am going back to the original raw files and starting again. Hopefully I will be able to produce something with impact.

                    Thanks again

                    Josh.
