Sorry I bumped your thread, but when I saw your moon, it reminded me of one I took earlier this year.
There aren't a lot of comments on this site are there?
I thought when I put my moon up there may be some questions asked, as it was taken with such a small camera, but "Nada!"
Perhaps I should have asked people to guess.
Hi Audrey -
Trust all is well with you both.
Please, bump away.
What a cracker of a shot with such a small camera (non dslr) - congratulations. I think the darkness of the desert may have helped or perhaps it was your technique/prowess.
Slow traffic here I agree and I don't know why. dpnow is a mine of information with many members and sometimes when looking at who is on the site visitor numbers can be over a hundred.
Now summer is here we should see what people have done with the camera and numbers will grow again subject to comments from the members on others art/work.
Taken in Sharm el Sheikh in the desert hand held with the little Panasonic DMC FX01:
Very nice shot. (Yours too, Barr1e. Audrey, I'm not up on my little Panasonic numbers. Does it have a good zoom and is the lens one of the Leica lenses? Not that any that really matters. You obvious knew what you were doing. Plus everyone knows the Moon is much closer down there. Probably coul have driven over for a meal .
Thanks for the response Barr1e, but of course what I was dying to tell you was that part of our Bedouin visit was a star gazing session. It's a wonder I didn't keel over looking up for so long, because the man who was talking liked his subject so much that he did not know when to stop.
We had to stay because we had been promised that we would be able to take pictures of the moon - through a telescope.
I got out my Fuji S9500 with the 300 mm lens but was promptly told that it was not possible and only little compacts could be used. So there we were all lined up in the dark desert waiting to stick our cameras behind (in front of?) this massive telescope which magnified I don't know how many times. They did tell us but I have forgotten.
I half guessed it, when Anne and I were in Cornwall last year a guy at the hotel was trying to do the same but had some trouble with a ring that attached to the camera.
At least you can say I shot the moon.
Josh and Stephen - Thanks.

I used the high pass filter last night on the shot - after reading about how to use it in Photoshop, what an improvement.
Still so much to learn and the clock keeps clicking.
