  • Becky & Ella

I took some photos of Becky last year and was not really happy with the out come in fact I was shot down a bit as she seem very young and I was warned about taking photos of her but that is another story. She asked me again and I was going to just say no then she said she was bringing her mate Ella along who really wanted some photos done. So I checked with her mum who was fine about it all and I am happy with those. Becky just does not want to smile and has so many hangs ups about herself but Ella the dark haired girl is a lot more fun loving and is very happy with herself.

Loads more on my flickr if anybody wants to look.

I'm enjoying your recent series of portraits - thanks for allowing us to see your work.

One and three is the pick for me.

Love the last one. The catchlights in the eyes work well to bring the picture to life as well.

        best regards

I like these but don't love them, I think its because of the lighting making them look a little flat. I don't really no how to explain but there's no feeling in the pictures.
Did you try a softer lighting and also did you try asking them not to look at the camera?

                  Thanks for that Ash.

Yes I think I used fill in flash a few to many times and it shows I am one who does like people looking at the camera as I like the eye contact in a photo. Having said this I know looking of camera adds mood so will try harder on that. I have another shoot this afternoon so will try some then

I'd agree with Ash about the lighting. I also feel that many of these are not as sharp as they should be, and I wonder if you focussed on the eyes. I suspect that you have used a pretty wide aperture and consequently the focus point is critical.

                      Hi Stephen

Yes most shot at 2.8 on the sigma 70-200mm also a few on the 50mm 1.4. I am not getting over the novelty value of shooting an f1.6 and f1.4 yet but must do I know. Like I said before out this afternoon so will force myself to shoot with a better f stop or really make sure the focus is spot on.
