I went away for the weekend as a birthday treat to myself, to a B&B down the coast! A number of birds came to the patio each morning to ask for food, some taking seeds from my hand! I know my images are blurred but the birds move so quickly, it is so difficult to achieve anywhere near perfection! I absolutely love their colours and antics!

They're such beautiful colours and I can well imagine how much fun they were to watch. Sometimes it's nice just to get the shot and not worry too much if they aren't always perfect, especially with birds.

Well done on the third image! Nice and sharp.
The reason the first two are blurred is shutter speed!
I can see you have tried a few different settings to try to acheive a sharp shot, which is good, experiment, but its also important that you understand what each auto mode is actually doing.
I don't want to insult your inteligence, but maybe it will make you read your manual or even consider full manual mode, where you have full control over what the camera is doing, or if you are not fully confident in manual mode see below:
Here for example, high iso & shutter priority mode or(sports mode) of 500sec would have suited.
Sorry ive ranted, but maybe one day you will thank me.

Thanks for your comments Ash, they are much appreciated! I don't think of it as ranting when people take time to advise! Its great! You would not insult my intelligence! I actually did try using the Sports as well as Shutter Priority mode to try to compensate for quick movement! I also used the image stabilizer! I tried most of the modes as well as altering the exposure up and down a few stops! However, I more often use Aperture Priority as many people say its a better bet! I don't know where my manual is to tell you the truth! I've always found great difficulty in trying to correlate what I read in manuals to practicality! Even with computers! I have to try things out for myself as I go and frequency of use teaches me more than reading manuals!
