  • Meet Caitlin

I had a shoot with a lovely young lady today called Caitlin. I will say loads of mistakes on my part. 1st wrong time of day ie really harsh light. 2nd to much flash used. 3rd not watching my backgrounds as much as I should have. .
Here are a few I rescued I think. Loads more on my flickr pages later.

I post this in the hope that it will make me learn from my mistakes

    Pretty girl with beautiful eyes.

I like the first. The background in the second needs to have the highlights toned down.

The background on the third is a bit too intrusive for me, but I like the pose.

I don't like the unnatural pose of the third. It also shows up blemishes on her arm.

The pose on the last one I quite like, but you need to look at your backgrounds before finalising as I don't like the bar through her head. Nice facial expression. I am not a portrait photographer so wont comment on tone etc. I'll leave that to Gina or Graham or Stephen.

I think the flash is a little too bright on all of them, but as I have no knowledge of using flash other than the inbuilt type, it's perhaps OK. At least there are no shadows.

      Re: Meet Caitlin

Being a bit harsh on yourself there Peter.
And as you have not posted in the critique section I won't be harsh on you either!
A nice set, and you obviously no the faults with them, talk about the third degree from autumn there

As long as you enjoyed the shoot and we all are learning with every shot we take.
      Thanks for sharing.
      Ash.

        Re: Meet Caitlin

        Thank you Audrey and Ash

I fully agree with all that you have said Audrey. I know I made a lot of errors yesterday and the main thing is I really must learn from them that is why I posted them as I knew I would get some honest comments.

Ash I guess we are all our own worse critic and the funny thing is I posted one on face book for her as she liked it when she saw the preview on the back of the camera and to be truthful I would have sent it straight to the delete bin myself ?
