  • How many "Creatures" can you see ?

There was this right old kerfuffle outside my window the other day and I saw this lot. So just for fun:

    Looks like a magpie convention

    I reckon it's a sign of Spring

The old rhyme "One for sorrow, two for joy," etc stops at seven so I couldn't count past that.

It's certainly a sizable tiding, gulp, charm or murder(take your pick).

          I see approximately 18.

It looks like it might be a flock of Long-tailed tits. Is that so?

Graham referred to them as crows to me so I have assumed, by their plumage, to be close cousins - magpies.

Yeah having looked again I reckon you're right.

Come to think of it LTTs would probably be too small to see, or at least count, from that distance.

We're getting few Magpies in the garden at the moment. There's a huge crow too and it can be fun watching the stand off. Noisy though!

The reason for all the commotion was the Magpies were "Mobbing" a Fox, taking it in turns to dive down on it.

I quite regularly see these creature "interactions", mostly between the water birds fighting for whatever they fight over and the Foxes, Cats, Birds, etc., all doing their thing ...

Fascinating! I hadn't noticed the fox.

You're very lucky to be able to watch all those things from your window!

I consider myself VERY lucky to have this right outside the front of my house. While the Fox, Geese, and all the other wildlife often keep us awake during the summer, it's worth it to have such an unrestricted view and a continually changing and often eventfull vista.
