  • Church windows

Seeing the church windows posted by Barr1e prompted me to hunt out the ones below.
The shots are from inside St Lawrence church located in Heanor, Derbyshire. Its a 15th century church but following at least 2 rebuilds only the tower is now original 15th century. The 2 windows below were saved and incorportated into the rebuild.

I like the addition of the items on the window ledge Pops.
Did you have to correct the perspective on these, the verticals look spot on

I like the way the coloured reflections have been captured on the sill of the first shot.

How about this one; taken from an angle instead of head-on?

It was taken at the St.John the Baptist Church, Aldbury village, near Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, last summer.

This is a much more pleasing and creative way of photographing windows such as this. The picture has more context and the effect of the sun shining through the coloured glass is very effective. This is a cracker IMO

Thanks Stephen, the angle was rather determined by the attractive splashes of colour projected to the side.

                    Re: Church windows

This is a darker version that I eventually rejected in favour of the lighter version posted earlier in this thread:

What do you think of the darker version - moonlight effect, maybe?

I prefer the lighter version too, the highlights are brighter, which is what you would expect. Also the flowers and window ledge show more detail. Much more pleasing on the eye

I would agree with Stephen that the lighter one is best, the flowers really help to finish off the picture and it would look a lot plainer without them

That's an interesting way to take them Ian.
If I get access again I'll remember that.

This is stunning. Really beautiful. I love everything about it.

My preference is for the lighter one.

The lighter one for me too.

I agree, the light in this instance has certainly helped create a very nice picture.
