  • What do you do on a grey rainy day?

Stopped on our way to Hemel Hempstead today and visited the church of St. John the Evangelist in Boxmoor. Which was dedicated in its present form on Easter Tuesday, 1874. Today it remains a vibrant centre for Christian worship and fellowship. The congregations include those who have been life-long members of St. John's as well as those who have recently come to faith and those who are exploring Christianity.

I hope you enjoy this series of pictures.

All taken in natural light with the Canon G11.

        Thanks Pops.

I enjoy taking coloured glass and I was fortunate the sun had his hat on which enabled me to get my settings to the way I like them.

Thanks for taking the time to comment - comments certainly help with ones feelings and creativity.

My last post for a while.

          Hi Barrie

I see what you mean about a grey rainy day, but I don't think it matters too much with churches, they suit all weathers. I like the position from which you have taken this image, as it gives a good lead in supported by the very attractive lamps and old trees.

I like the interior shot also and the G11 has done a good job of capturing all the detail.

With regard to the stained glass windows, I admit that they are beautiful, but when I have taken pictures of them, and they usually turn out reasonably well, I am not really sure what to do with them. Eg, I would not put them in our Club competition, whilst many Camera Club Members, would put the Church in. I suppose it is a case of photographing someone else's art, but then taking photographs of the church is too, so it is obviously a matter of opinion.

          Thanks for sharing.
