  • Large Stag

Memory doesn't serve me well today - it must be the early mornings etc to try and add to our (Anne and I) portfolio of deer. I don't think I have posted this stag on dpnow before.
We rarely go in Ashridge Forest nowadays after a member of www.e-group.uk.net picked up a tick and was poorly for months. We cheat now by being roadside as we were incidentally in 2008 when I was fortunate to get this speciman to stay still long enough to capture him - more from shock as we stumbled across him by accident.

We also took a group of ten stags last week who were so skittish we only got the rear ends of them from a distant as they ran from the cameras - doh.

A great specimen and a fine example of the species. Bet you couldn't believe your luck when you came across it.

I remember coming across a male elk grazing by the roadside when in Canada last year. We stopped and watched it it for several minutes from the car. It seemed totally unphased by our presence and we managed to take many shots

      Re: Large Stag

      Hi Stephen -

      Thanks.

I remember your images from your trip last year. I felt that I was on holiday with you too. It must have been so exiting.

      ---------------------------------------------

This one was printed in the district magazine - a doe had been grazing and suddenly felt a prescence and started peering at the camera before bolting.
