DP Now Salon Competition no. 78 - FRESH, CLEAN & NEW
Re: DP Now Salon Competition no. 78 - FRESH, CLEAN & NEW
How long is it............ I don't know to be honest. A rough guess/estimate would be from my fingertips to my elbow. About that long!
Sadly it has gone now. The temp here has been around 2' all day and lots of the icicles have all gone now. This one ended up on the bathroom roof and has melted away due to the heat in the roof.
I love Icicles, I think they look brilliant so when I spotted this one growing I just knew I had to get a pic for this comp, it was the first thing I thought of!

Hi everyone,
I've had a few gremlins in the pc, well it's cable broadband - the cables outside have been chewed by the rats apparently. I will be posting the top 3 shortly and would like to thank all of you for contributing.
Re: DP Now Salon Competition no. 78 - FRESH, CLEAN & NEW
Thankyou to all of you that took the time to enter this salon, it's been a busy start to the year and the weather has prevented a few of us getting out and about but here are the result ...
... And the winner is ...
Ekkl for the most splendid icicle I've seen for a while - Fresh, clean and new.
... 2nd Place ...
Goes to Ryme for the newly emerged 6 spot burnet moth - in fact if I could have a tie for first place it would be Ekkl and ryme.
... 3rd Place ...
Goes to Horacio for his frozen leaves, very fresh, clean and new.

Congrats Ekkl on achieving first place. A wonderful icicle. Also well done to Ryme and Horatio. Thanks also Gina for running the salon. I hope that you have caught all the rats now.

We live in a 2 storey maisonette, part of a council estate. The homes were built in the 1950's and are solid but need upgrading. We live next to a tramlink that goes from Wimbledon and Croydon and the river Wandle and have lots of wildlife. The fox community has become so large that there is talk of culling in the area. I watch them cross the main road at night and the pups digging up gardens opposite and breaking into rubbish bags. This also brings out the rats and they're huge, they live in the sheds and garages and down the service holes outside where the cables are for our broadband and telephone services. Several neighbours were without net access for the entire Christmas and New Year period because of the rats. We have asked about more protection to the access hole for cables but nobody takes responsibility!!
Before we got our first cat, Frank, I was sitting at the PC one summer evening and saw movement in my peripheral vision. It was a rat ... it had come up 2 flights of stairs to my doorstep, went in the kitchen and back out again I couldn't believe it.
With 2 cats resident here now, I doubt we will be getting anymore little visitors but they want to keep away from them cables or I'm buying a bow and arrow!
