A very late reply to this from me - apologies, I've had hardly any time to go online in the past couple of weeks!

Congrats to MIB2 and Trev. Thank you for picking my image as third place, that was a pleasant surprise.

Great salon sephen, with some excellent entries.

Well done all the winners, very worthy

I came across a quote recently by Gary Winogrand "Photography is not about the thing photographed. It is about how that thing looks photographed."

How true I thought, and it also helped me to justify my need to 'make' a photo. So with this in mind too I have also been helped to reach a decision on the winners of this Salon. I can't deny it was a difficult job as I ended up with a shortlist of 5. In the end of course it comes down to my personal choice and how I interpreted my own brief.

The winners then are:-

3rd place ryme-intrinseca I loved the colours and the way you had emphasised the sky.

2nd place mib2. A really pleasing landscape and sunset. The bridge and the position of the boat really add to the composition.

1st place TrevWhite I just love what Trev has done with this shot and there is a certain vastness about that sky that makes this a really special landscape shot.

I must however thank all entrants to this Salon, its always really interesting to see how others interpret a theme. As I said there were some really great shots.

Congratulations to Trev, its over to you now and I'm pretty sure we will all look forward to see what you come up with for a theme in the next Salon.

Many thanks to the judge for choosing my image. I have carefully looked at the entries and the competition was awesome. Thank you also everyone for the kind words. I will let you know my competition choice really soon. (Dianne wanted to have "Flowers" as a subject but after I told her she couldnt enter, she changed her mind.)

This is from my stoep (verandah or porch for all you northern hemisphere folks) I moved home recently, I miss the birds at the old place, they have been replaced with ring neck doves here. rats of the bird kingdom but I have awesome sunsets most evenings.

I have posted some on my blog and will add more when I get some time.
