Re: Fortnightly Salon Competition No.52 In the Night

Well after a few hints being dropped by members of the Burley family I'm afraid you folks are just going to have to wait for the result.

I'm down at Ians at the moment and won't be back until Monday evening as I'm working in London tomorrow. I'll try and get something announced tomorrow night

Re: Fortnightly Salon Competition No.52 In the Night

Thanks for being so patient everyone, I've not long since got back from London so here are the winners. Firstly though I'd like to thank everyone who made the effort to submit a picture, there were some interesting and good images well done.

In third place, and mainly because of her creativity in making the best of a bad job is Jojo with her DIY Catherine wheel. Some may not agree about it being a proper photo, but I just liked the colour and the impact it had. Definitely has the Wow factor

In second place, and because I'm a real sucker for good landscape is Peters Sunset photo. Took this from your gallery Peter, but I think I prefer the one in the Salon. Its a great colourful shot, a quality image in my opinion so well done for getting that. Think it would have been the winner, but I wasn't so sure that it could be truly called a night shot

So in First place is Cogito with his Trick or Treat shot. I really love this shot. The girls have made a real effort and their faces are great and full of witchyness I think you did well to get the shot, and that height you achieved making them look up at teh camera just makes the image.

So well done Cogito, its over to you to look after the next Salon. Julia should be contacting you soon to get details of where the memory card should be sent. If you need any help setting up the next salon, just shout.

        Congrats to Cogito!

It would be nice to read about who the girls are in the picture and how the picture came about!

            Yes well done Cogito

looking forward to the next one. Thanks Stephen for the comments on my sunset, I did say at the time I was not sure it was a true night shot. That photo will be my main entry this week at our last club meet which is as you can guess is local sunsets. So it was nice to have that feed back from you.

Re: Fortnightly Salon Competition No.52 In the Night

Gosh! wow! really?? You've certainly made my day!

Thanks, Stephen, I'm so pleased you and others liked the shot. The girls are my daughter and a friend who had been out trick-or-treating for a few hours and then knocked on our door. Their costumes were great, too, but they had perfected their "witchy" look and I wanted to capture and emphasise that. Hence the photo. (Don't know why they looked so cross - you should have seen the size of their goody-bags!).

I feel somewhat unskilled to adjudicate on the efforts of others, but I'll have a go! Give me a day or two to think, and I'll come back with a theme for the next one. (and btw I may need some help with setting it up on the forums!)

                  Thanks to all, still grinning!

                  Regards,

                  Neil

                      Nice one Neil, interesting picture.

Really hard one to judge yet again, osme absolute crackers there, I was sure I picked the winner but yet again I didn't

Well done Stephen for a good salon and also the explaination too.
