Thank you everybody that has submitted something so far. However, there is still 36 hours left for YOU LURKERS! You've got a lovely autumnal Saturday tomorrow to get out and about, so no excuses, up the ante have a go. 2GB Card up for grabs and your choice of subject for the next Salon!

Hi Horacio, this pic to me is absolutely stunning, a case of less is more! When the salon has closed, if you are willing to give a brief explanation of how you achieved the shot would be greatly appreciated! I admire the aesthetic quality! Superb!Jocelyn

Horacio very kindly explained his technique for the 'Pond Flora' pic a while ago. I think maybe you were away on holiday at the time.
The full thread, with the detailed explanation, can be found at

Re: Fortnightly Salon 51 - Autumn to me.....
Well, you didn't make this easy for me, no sirree!
Thank you to everybody that took the time to submit something, I know these things take time and effort so cheers
I would like to comment on each individual one but I'm afraid that may take too long! Those images with striking traditional autumn colours had me going back and forth many times; the less obvious ones of seascapes, pond flora, fallen fruit and alpine views had me scratching my head (and chin) too.
However, for the following reasons here are my winners:
3rd Place goes to Autumn for her Lime Tree Avenue. The carpet of golden leaves between tall Limes coupled with the raking shadows from the lower autumnal sun depict a classic autumn scene.
2nd Place goes to Strontian and his cheeky squirrel. I thought that this was a good capture of what are generally skittish creatures. The squirrel, with his customary acorn, and the colour of his cheeks echoing the russet of the leaves, makes for an appealing autumnal image
1st Place goes to Stephen

Wahoooooooooo!! I can't believe it, and after such a late entry and so many good pics in this Salon. I really surprised so thanks very much Jojo.
I posted this particular picture, largely because it was so simple, it was the epitomy of autumn, and light is what what makes autumnal images so great. Without the sun shining through the leaf it would be nothing.
Anyway, I'll come up with a new them for the next Salon ASAP

Congratulations Stephen. I knew it was a winner.
I was trying the same thing out myself last week, but only sitting in the car. (Leg still in pot). It wasn't good enough, so I had to post one of last year's pictures.
Congratulations also to Strontian - cute little squirrel.
Thanks Jojo for running the salon.
I look forward to seeing the new challenge Stephen.

Congratulations Stephen, simple picture but still amazing!
I couldn't decide what picture to put in this comp, been out and taken a few but they all ended up in the bin and I had a few from last year but just couldn't decide.
