Re: Fortnightly Salon Competition No. 45: Portraits and People
She is gorgeous, you must be so pleased!Originally posted by ryme-intrinseca View PostThank you. That's my own baby, and I'm the one holding her. She was born on New Year's Day this year. I put my camera on the tripod and reached out my right arm as far as I could to press the shutter. If I'd had any common sense, I'd have used the self timer, but having given birth a couple of hours previously, perhaps I can be excused for not thinking straight.
Thats a head of hair she has there already. Geat capture as well, especially considering the method
Whats her name?

Thank you, mums love to hear that their babies are gorgeous. I'm grinning like this smiley now:
Her name's Keren Molly. We wanted something a little unusual but not unpronounceable for the first name.

Taken during our holiday to Sth America last year, this child lived on a small homestead high in the Andes in the shadow of Mt Chimborazo, Ecuador's largest inactive volcano.

Re: Fortnightly Salon Competition No. 45: Portraits and People
Hello everyone,
This has been so very difficult to pick a winning photo as they are all great captures and obviously very precious. A picture is worth more than a thousand words and when it's a loved one, even more. This is the reason I love portrait and people photography.
Third runner up goes to ...
Life in a Lens for 'Worry' In wake of the quake that shook the east....
A superb capture of emotion in this man's face, black and white enhances the overall image. Well done.

Second runner up goes to ...
jojo for the Andean Girl
I love this shot, without which, many of us would never be lucky enough to travel to such places to see for ourselves. A great capture.

And The Winner is ...
Autumn aka Audrey for the Cuban couple
This won the salon because of the emotion on their faces, obviously very fond of each other and it makes me smile every time I look at it. Very well done Audrey.

I'd also like to mention 70Falcon's entry was a strong contender so well done for your first try and hope we see more from you in the future salon competitions.
Thank you everyone for taking part, I loved all your children's beautiful captures (and grandchildren) and hope you all continue pressing the shutter.
Lots of love - see you all in September when I may be uploading more of Cyprus! Until then ... Audrey, it's over to you!
