    Re: Fortnightly Salon Competition No.4

Quality wise this is not the greatest of photos as it is a scan from an old film neg I took more than 10 years ago in SA but the picture kind of symbolises "living planet" for me with my environmental activist parents perched on the edge of a huge barren planet-like rock (forewarning of what may come if we don't look after the environment) overlooking Langebaan Lagoon soon after the West Coast National Park was opened. This is a wetland conservation area of major importance to the region hosting 55000 species of birds many of them migratory.

These sites give more info about it.

              Last Orders At The Salon

Ok, time is nearly up ladies and gents, one more night to get your pictures in for the Salon competition.

I have to say, I am really excited about going through the pictures and choosing a winner. I think there are some great shots, some interesting shots, and two or three really outstanding pieces of photography to look at.

I love the way some people have interpreted the subject matter as well, which will be taken into consideration.

So come on, dont be shy with your work.

              Cheers,
              Ben

Can I enter an image that's already in my gallery in the "The Living World" Salon?
                  And if so, how?

Hi Bart, indeed - the competition is partly to promote the use of both the forum and the gallery.

All you need to do is copy and paste the UBB Code under you gallery picture into a post in this thread.

                    Hope that helps!

No food, no life! Its the earth that sustains life, and this is one way in which we help Mother Nature to keep it a "Living World"

Irrigation circles, taken from about 600 feet in a microlight
These are mealies - corn under circular centre pivot irrigation. The radius is about 1 km.

                      Thanks for the invite, Ian.
                      Regards

Yes of course, in fact the majority of images that you see here Bart, are from the gallery.

There is an image code (UBB) at the bottom of your uploaded picture, paste it straight in to the text, and you done.

Do hurry up though, as this competition closes today, I will be making decisions from about 5-6pm GMT this evening.

Good luck, and I look forward to seeing your submission.

                        Cheers,
                        Ben

I really wanted to submit a photo for the salon 4 'Living World' & tried by entering a macro shot of a spider on a rhodedendron flower! Being very new to online forums & newfangled likes, I couldn't work out how to connect a thread from my gallery to the salon site. I looked for the bb code to copy, but dumbo me couldn't work it out!
