  • Fortnight Salon Competition No. 42. "Places i love"

"PLACES I LOVE" or "MY SPECIAL PLACE"

Now I see plenty of potential here for everyone but you can interpret it as you will.

The closing date for entries will be noon GMT on 17th June.

    THE RULES.

1)All photographs are to be uploaded to the photo gallery at http://dpnow.com/galleries/

The resulting link generated for the photo will then be pasted into the next available space in the Salon thread. Please keep photos to max 800 pixel wide so people can see the whole image without scrolling.

2)One entry per user ID only please, which must be the personal work of the entrant.

3)Entries should be " in line " within the thread ( not as links to an image held somewhere else, any external links or photos held anywhere other than the Galleries will be deleted.

4)Comments only on entries are welcome within the salon thread itself.

5)After the close the curator will indicate a winner and a couple of runners up.

    6)The curator's decisions is final.

7)Winners should be offered first refusal to choose the next theme and curate the next salon.

If the winner is unable to curate the next salon the curator may offer that "honour" to any willing volunteer, possibly the entrant in second place.

9)These rules are to be copied and pasted with a new theme by the new curator at the top of the new Salon thread with a finish date and time.

10)As with all photos posted on DPNow,copyright remains with the photographer and DPNow will not use them without permission.

    Enjoy

This was shot today at one of my 'special places'. It's a Nature Reserve on marshland that we like to visit. We went today to see if a flooded bridge had re-opened. However, it was still roped off with green, algae covered water over it.

When I go here I sometimes get stung by nettles, scratched by thistles and often get wet feet too but I still love going there because it's usually quiet and peaceful.

........... my 'special place' for eating a kebab is on a bed in the campervan.

Happy Birthday to Peder today too. I'd have sent you a Chicken Shish Kebab with chips and salad if I'd known!

I am lucky enough to live in a World Heritage site, and we have some beautiful scenery. This is Old Harry Rocks, where the Jurassic Coastline begins. I've travelled around the UK a lot, but this is my favourite view in the world - just a mile from my house.

Yes, I'd love to be up there at sunset, but unfortunately, although it's only a mile away 'as the crow flies', it takes a long time to walk there around the coastal path. Aas the path is very near the cliff edge in some places, I don't know how I'd feel about walking back in the dark!

Now officially my favourite place in the UK following my first trip there just last week - The Lake District.

According to a guide book we bought, this is the most photographed view in the Lake District. I'd like to go back in the autumn to get the autumnal colours and, hopefully, a more vigorous flow in the river (stream?) and less haze in the distance. Still at least the sun came out for us - unlike down home in Essex!

                        Hi All

I've been to Monument Valley twice and intend to go back again. For me the most wonderful place on the planet.

I love sitting down on Brighton beach with a nice drink in hand watching the sunset. This picture is taken just near to the old pier that was burned down and now just a metal shell remains. You can see there on the left the old walkway that used to lead to the pier and the supports still showing sticking out of the beach.

This place always looks good whatever the weather. It looks nice as you can see when the sun is setting, and it looks amazing with dark storm clouds and grimy weather too, one of the few places that can do this.

The view from Middlesmoor Church over Upper Nidderdale. One of my favourite places.

Recently visited the Lake District for the first time in 25 years. Had forgotten just how striking it is (especially at 6.00 in the morning!) This was taken from the grounds of a hotel that backed on to Lake Windermere.
