Re: Fortnightly Salon Competition #38 - POWER
Now I can empathise with everyone who has said how hard it is to pick a winner in previous salons, it really is so difficult to narrow it down. Anyway, after much deliberation, I have chosen the following:
Third place - Martin - the yacht and the wind turbines. A lovely shot, with the small yacht in the foreground showing the scale of the graceful wind turbines in the background.
Second place - Paul.R.W. - The Power of Religion. Again, this photo seems to show the scale of the huge stone structures very well, and I can see what you mean about the power of religion - the effort and dedication taken to construct / sculpt these must have been huge!
First place - Jocelyn - the lighthouse. The contrast in this shot is beautiful, and adds a lot of drama, I love it.
This was genuinely difficult for me to decide, and I changed my mind about the order of the top three numerous times. I agree that perhaps some kind of voting system might be a good idea. Thanks for all the entries everyone.

Well done and thanks for running a Salon you never thought you would have to. Stepping in as you did is much appreciated. I never got round to putting in an entry in the end, hopefully next time.Originally posted by ryme-intrinseca View PostNow I can empathise with everyone who has said how hard it is to pick a winner in previous salons, it really is so difficult to narrow it down. The beauty of the Salon concept is that one person decides a topic and a winner, then the winner takes their turn. A system of voting would destroy that concept and so I for one would be very much against such an idea.
Congrats to Jocelyn for winning this Salon and of course the runners up. I look forward to seeing the next topic.

Actually, yes - that's true, I can see what you're saying. It was just so hard to judge, I felt that I was doing others a disservice by not picking them! It was fun though.Originally posted by Stephen View PostThe beauty of the Salon concept is that one person decides a topic and a winner, then the winner takes their turn. Many thanks Ryme-intrinsica for taking on the last Salon at short notice. I think you have done a good job in the end. I was a bit worried the first week when you did not seem to be getting many entries but it came good in the second week. I have to say in conclusion that did not envy your task of judging that lot but you you made some good choices.
