  • Fortnightly Salon Competition (No.11)

Ok folks, it's time for some fun. The theme for this salon is...

    ...MY FAVOURITE THING!

    Criteria:

This can be anything you like, taken anywhere you like, but it must be your favourite thing (inanimate object), as opposed to a person or animal. It might be a gorgeous pair of shoes, a particularly lovely microwave oven, or even a camera-related item.......you decide...

Good luck..........have fun and don't forget that there's a prize (a Kingston 2GB media card in the format of your choice) for the winning entry.

THE SALON STARTS NOW (THURSDAY 15TH FEB 2007 @ 2240 BST) AND ENDS AT 2240 ON THURSDAY 1ST MARCH 2007. IF ANYONE IS IN ANY DOUBT ABOUT THE ENTRY CRITERIA, JUST PM ME AND I'LL BE HAPPY TO HELP.

    ............and the Rules

    1) All photographs are to be uploaded to the photo gallery at http://dpnow.com/galleries/, they can be put in members own gallery if they wish. The resulting link generated for the photo will then be pasted into the next available space in the Salon thread.
    2) One entry per user ID only please, which must be the personal work of the entrant
    3) Entries should be "in line" within the thread (not as links to an image held somewhere else)
    4) Comments only on entries are welcome within the salon thread itself
    5) After the close the curator will indicate a winner and a couple of runners up.
    6) The curator's decision is final.
    7) Winners should be offered first refusal to choose the next theme and curate the next salon.
8.) If the winner is unable to curate the next salon the current curator may offer that "honour" to any willing volunteer, possibly the entrant in second or third place
    9) These rules are to be copied and pasted with a new theme by the new Curator at the top of the new Salon thread with a finish date and time
    10) As with all photos posted on DPNow, copyright remains with the photographer and DPNow will not use them without permission.

    Re: Fortnightly Salon Competition (No.11)

The criteria for this salon originally included the requirement for all submissions to be taken using a camera-phone, but it transpired that several people didn't have them. I've therefore removed this criteria and PM'd those who'd voiced their concerns. All submissions can now be taken with any camera you choose

As most of the first page was taken up with discussion on the now deleted element of the Salon, I've removed those posts in the interests of tidiness and of course to avoid any further confusion. Apologies to those concerned

My favorite thing currently is to take Nightshots in general and especially during holiday lighting.

Me too. Excellent musical score too. It's worth visiting his grave if you're ever in the area. Nice area, photogenic location.

Went to Moreton in my late teens actually. I was studying Lawrence and his contempories for a political project and I'd wanted to see his house and the lane where he'd crashed. Beautiful place (like pretty much anywhere in Dorset), but his story (not to mention the conspiracy theories about his life and death) is truly intriguing.

Being interested in photography I guess my favourite thing is light. So here's a light that I liked quite a lot.

"My own suspicion is that the universe is not only stranger than we suppose, but stranger than we can suppose."

Sunsets & Sunrises are one of my favourite subjects too! I love the colours you've managed to capture here! Did you use a filter by the way? Great pic. Some kind of blurry green bits in a line almost on a level with your signature though. Perhaps cropping at bottom of bushes would ease the distraction!
