        Re: Salon 224: Chimney

I have one I'm trying to find. In the meantime, here's a weak effort. This is the "chimney" at our ski club's lodge. Inside the room is a fireplace with a gas fire.

If you're not living on the edge you're taking up too much room.

          Re: Salon 224: Chimney

Looking back through my photos, I don't seem to have many chimneys (or I haven't tagged them!)

This is the old chimney near the sewage works in Northampton - not sure if it's connected, though!

My second effort includes several chimneys, but they're old and reflected in a new building. Taken in Milton Keynes

                    Re: Salon 224: Chimney

Thanks for your efforts, Its a real shame that the Salon seems to have almost died. The new layout of the front page makes it less noticeable, too. Especially as so little changes at the top of the page. Maybe visitors can't be bothered to scroll down. - Moan over.

The winner after much deliberation is the very first entry: Rodbender's gritty smoke-filled image takes the crown.

                    Kind regards, Kurt

Thank You Kurt for selecting my image. It was one of 52 I took for a "One a week" challenge. Maybe we could get a similar challenge running here. All you do is choose a subject and then post one image a week for a year. On my own web site I had a member choose to post one image a day. Yes a total of 365 images in that year. Great fun.

I will put some thought into selecting a new theme for the next salon and get back soon.

Re Rod's idea for a 52 challenge (I've tried a 365 a couple of times, didn't manage to keep it up!)

I'm in some Flickr groups that do a daily challenge, but only twice a year - April and October. You can choose a theme, or just wing it. Here's a link to my latest set (April 2017) https://flic.kr/s/aHskS923FZ

There's also a themed challenge - 117 in 2017, some themes are date specific and some are generic (and some are weird). But if you're a Flickr member, let me know and I'll point you in the direction because they're all run by friends.
