  • 190th Salon: Humour

We all like a smile, so give us an image that has brought a grin to your face: "Humour" is the subject and, as always open to wide interpretation.

    Rules

    1. All photographs are to be uploaded to the photo gallery at http://dpnow.com/galleries/

They can be put in members own gallery if they wish. The resulting link generated for the photo will then be pasted into the next available space in the salon thread. Please keep photos to a maximum of 1000 pixels wide so people can see the whole image without scrolling.

    2. As agreed previously, TWO entries maximum per user ID only please, which must be the personal work of the entrant.

    3. Entries should be ‘in line’ within the thread (not as a link to an image held somewhere else).

    4. Comments on entries are welcome within the salon thread itself.

    5. After the close, the curator will indicate a winner and a couple of runners up.

    6. The curator’s decision is final.

    7. The winner will be invited to choose the next theme and curate the next salon.

    8. If the winner is unable to curate the next salon the current curator may offer that ‘honour’ to any willing volunteer, possibly the entrant in second or third place.

    9. These rules are to be copied and pasted with the new theme by the curator at the top of the new salon thread with a finish date and time.

    10. As with all photos posted on DPNow, copyright remains with the photographer and DPNow will not use them without permission.

The salon competition ends at midnight BST on 3 September.

Please make an effort to contribute to our salon

This is going to require some explanation. I race on a type of snowboard that isn't frequently seen. It's long and narrow and uses hard boots like ski boots. I was in Davos a few years ago and needed to go to the bathroom. Snow had stuck between the boot and the binding and I couldn't release it. After fifteen minutes of futile efforts I couldn't ignore my protesting bladder anymore so I took my foot out of the boot and put it into a glove!

The wife and I drove through 27 states and two Canadian Provinces over this past February and March. One of our destinations was Aspen where I was racing on skis and snowboard at the National Championships. From there we drove to a family reunion in South Carolina. I couldn't resist the temptation to put the camera on a tripod and take a "selfie" of our ski gear with palm trees in the background. We labeled the photo "Honey, we need to get the GPS fixed!"

This one doesn't count as I've already submitted two but I wanted to share it with you anyhow. My wife grew this tomato. I posted it on Facebook and said "Caption Contest". You can imagine the responses!

in the interests of getting a few more photos into the comp, i've dragged one out from the gallery.

Not long before closing, time to trawl the archives. Some more of you must have a humorous image.

I thought I had a great success in the first few days with some enjoyable images. But . . .

I am really torn for the winner between Patmoore's novel use of his glove and Tom Holle's fountain.

In the end the prize goes to Tom with a special mention to Patmoore for recording the incident despite the call of nature!

Thanks for the kind words Kurt. I'm surprised there weren't more entries. I had a few more to choose from.

Congrats to Tom. Let's get more entries in the next challenge.
