  • Challenge No 170 - Harvest

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's that time of the year when most farmers are reaping the rewards of a years hard work. It's also a time of the year that offers some very good photographic opportunities to capture beautiful scenes and sunsets. A combination of both would be super.

    Rules

    1. All photographs are to be uploaded to the photo gallery at http://dpnow.com/galleries/

They can be put in members own gallery if they wish. The resulting link generated for the photo will then be pasted into the next available space in the salon thread. Please keep photos to a maximum of 800 pixels wide so people can see the whole image without scrolling.

    2. As agreed previously, TWO entries maximum per user ID only please, which must be the personal work of the entrant.

    3. Entries should be ‘in line’ within the thread (not as a link to an image held somewhere else).

    4. Comments on entries are welcome within the salon thread itself.

    5. After the close, the curator will indicate a winner and a couple of runners up.

    6. The curator’s decision is final.

    7. The winner will be invited to choose the next theme and curate the next salon.

    8. If the winner is unable to curate the next salon the current curator may offer that ‘honour’ to any willing volunteer, possibly the entrant in second or third place.

    9. These rules are to be copied and pasted with the new theme by the curator at the top of the new salon thread with a finish date and time.

    10. As with all photos posted on DPNow, copyright remains with the photographer and DPNow will not use them without permission.

The salon competition ends at midnight BST on Saturday 27th September.
Regards Ron. Live each day as if it was your last. One day you will be right. Down sized to Nikon s7000 compact camera.

Lamberhurst Vineyard, Kent, on an Autumn evening in 2014 soon after the grapes had been picked.

And as I missed the grapes being harvested this year here's a photo of the ripe grapes in September 2006. (I missed the 'picking' that year too actually)

Re: Challenge No 170 - Harvest

First I would like to say Thank You to all those who entered this Salon. I have very much enjoyed watching the entries roll in, knowing that I had to find a winner. The task was not that easy with such a good selection. I would like to give a mention to two of the images that came very close to winning. Kurts "Harvesting the Sea" was a twist on the theme I had not thought of. Well done for thinking out of the box. "Hawthorns before the harvest" by andym was also a close contender. I liked the way the background was handled being out of focus, but still showing the Harvest atmosphere. Tea Plantation entered by Autumn just leaps off the page and the colours plus the expression on the pickers faces makes this image my choice for second place. The image I have placed first is "The Quiet Old Way" by rogleale. A super image full of action and fits the harvest theme beautifully.
Regards Ron. Live each day as if it was your last. One day you will be right. Down sized to Nikon s7000 compact camera.

Congratulations Roger - it is a lovely image and how I really think of as harvest. Thanks for placing mine second Rod and thanks for running the salon.

Challenge No 171 - The Waiting

People, pets, children or other animals; give us a picture which shows a hint of what the waiting is maybe for. Transport, fear, anticipation, boredom.
