The event was the awards ceremony at the NASTAR National Ski and Snowboard racing championships in Winter Park, CO in 2011. Within my age group I had taken 2nd in skiing and 1st in Snowboarding. On a whim I took my wife's little pink Canon point-and-shoot up to the podium for the awards. The presenter in the photo is two-time World Cup Downhill Champion Steven Nyman. By a happy coincidence, someone took a shot of me at the precise moment I took the shot of Steven and the crowd (see small photo). The guy in the blue jacket with his back to the camera is four-time Olympic Downhill Racer A J Kitt.

Okay - 2nd entry.

Also at the National Championships at Winter Park, Colorado two years ago. On Sunday they held the Race of Champions. I had time to kill before my run so I took my Canon Rebel to the start and took this shot. I never learned her name but I've always liked the shot as it shows that the course is not only fairly steep but has a sideways pitch.

Not such a good entry as usual in numbers or variety. My bad choice of subject, I guess.
