  • DP Salon Contest 268 - Abstract

I think we had been doing this topic before we underwent the forum upgrade. It's a favorite theme of mine so I thought I would reintroduce it. Abstract gives you a lot of latitude.

    This is what you do,
    • Post up to 3 images in this thread. You can use the forum attachment system or link from an external website.
    • Any photos must be your own work.
    • Each salon is open for two weeks and this one will close on Friday April 17, 2020 at 23:59 GMT.
    • The salon curator then chooses three photos from three different contributors in order of his or her personal preference and the one deemed the best endows its owner with the job of curating the next salon, after choosing a new topic.
    • The salon curator doesn't compete but can post some examples, if necessary, to give some inspiration
    Here are a few examples.

This was an iridescent gift bag that I'd given to the cats to play with - then I saw the effect of the LED lighting in the kitchen and went off to find the camera

Sorry Pat there will be no entry from me. Abstract is something I have never photographed. I'm watching and learning from the submitted images to your salon. I have no idea how you judge this subject.
Regards Ron. Live each day as if it was your last. One day you will be right. Down sized to Nikon s7000 compact camera.

It's tough to define and everyone probably has a different idea of what Abstract Photography is. Here's what Wikipedia has to say:

Abstract photography, sometimes called non-objective, experimental, conceptual or concrete photography, is a means of depicting a visual image that does not have an immediate association with the object world and that has been created through the use of photographic equipment, processes or materials. An abstract photograph may isolate a fragment of a natural scene in order to remove its inherent context from the viewer, it may be purposely staged to create a seemingly unreal appearance from real objects, or it may involve the use of color, light, shadow, texture, shape and/or form to convey a feeling, sensation or impression. The image may be produced using traditional photographic equipment like a camera, darkroom or computer, or it may be created without using a camera by directly manipulating film, paper or other photographic media, including digital presentations.
If you're not living on the edge you're taking up too much room.

I did Google abstract and my old brain is none the wiser. Never had any interest in art which I think abstract is a form of. Just have to give this one a miss.
