Lots of texture in that shot, Gez - I took a peek at the exif data and you were using a high ISO (9000?) - curious as to why?

I guess this rhino's cousins would be used to birds perching on them in the savanna - but not a magpie!

There are two reasons for the high exif data. I like to push a camera to its limits, going to the extremes of both lens and software in the search of the ultimate image.
The second reason is a senior moment forgetting to check the settings.

Can't wait to go insect chasing once the weather gets warmer - I don't feel like I have mastered this yet.

                            This was quite challenging!

Thank you everyone and please don't be disheartened if your photo didn't get a mention!

The ones that really caught my eye were:

Rab's inquisitive robin; that pose is just magical and belongs on a Christmas card.

I like Barrie's frame - perhaps not in fashion at the moment but maybe time for it to come back!

Garry's cricket and all that sun-lit green made me think longingly of summer 🌞

I was also drawn to Ron's needle and thread macro, as well as the bumble bee with its shiny wings hard at work.

A close runner-up for me was Pat's glowing warmth of the dawn ski-slope snow view.

Second runner-up spot goes to Caz and her set of gig shots, in particular the mono conversion.

But for me, a rather personal choice - it's my kind of shot - is Andy's riveting rivets 👍

It's nice use of mono and I like the perspective and the hint of abstract to it!

So, over to you now Andy...
