My cats were essentially house cats, but we did have a fully enclosed wire mesh run, 12 x 9 x 8 feet with shelves at various heights, where they could exercise and enjoy some fresh air. The only endangered wildlife were mice that were foolish enough to enter the run - or the house!

I used to sometimes have lunch at a cafe with a big garden and the resident cat was always stalking birds. However, I never saw him catch one because he had a very loud and sensitive bell on his collar. I've never seen such a frustrated cat in all my life!

Thanks Audrey, that means a lot, very helpful too as I'm working on a small laptop with newly installed software and I was hoping the processing might be ok but couldn't be sure.

What sort of software makes whiskers so sharp? I reckon it's the photographers.

It was off a superb prime lens, Pentax 300mm f/4. In addition to that, Gussy was mesmerised by pieces of chicken being dangled by David.

Nice moggy but her owners have now moved away so she's gone out of our garden and lives forever.

I must say that "gussy the pussy" from Pol is the winner. It is a lovely picture of a lovely cat with high tech capture and proccesing.
So Pol will chose the next salon. Thank you all. Regards Horacio.

Very well done Pol. I hadn't realised that it was the end of the salon. I only had 3 cat pictures but none of them were any good.

I look forward to seeing what you have in store for us.

Geeez I certainly didn't expect that! Thank you Horacio!

Audrey, the image was processed in CS5, not much processing to do actually as the Pentax 300mm f/4 really is an excellent lens and Gussy was almost motionless hoping for another piece of chicken.

I'll be back later to start a new Salon and I'll try to think of a topic that would make it possible for everyone to enter.

Re: Salon Competition #136 - Domestic Cats

Thank you John, Caz and Tom. Gus was a rescued cat and she was terrified when her owners got her - nervous, wide-eyed and scared of her own shadow. The owners had several cats and they looked after them so well, also managed to train them NOT to chase birds!

Gus used to chase the birds when she first went to live with them but within a few months she stopped bothering them. None of their 4-5 cats bothered the birds and I haven't a clue how they managed to train them to be so well behaved.

I've never owned a cat, always been a dog person, but I really miss Gus and Cedric (another of their cats) since the owners moved away.
