  • DP Now Salon Competition #102: Water or Fluid

Thank you everyone for the chance for me to choose the new Salon, its a great honor.

I notice that there has been a similar Salon previously "on water" (Salon 37 by DennisP) but it was some time ago and I would like to broaden the scope of the theme.

So, you might be thinking of a seascape, a lake, a waterfall, a reflection in a pond or puddle, rain, or an abstract of water or a close up macro etc etc. But fluid might be a solid subject matter that looks to be behaving in a fluid manner, a long exposure of grass swaying in the breeze or the general composition of the shot might have a feeling of fluidity.

It does not have to be water specifically any fluid "or" the shot gives the impression of fluidity.

This salon will run for two weeks and close at midnight GMT- Sunday 6th of March.

    The rules are as follows:

    1. All photographs are to be uploaded to the photo gallery at http://dpnow.com/galleries/
They can be put in members own gallery if they wish. The resulting link generated for the foto/photo will then be pasted into the next available space in the salon tread. Please keep photos to a maximum of 800 pixel wide so people can see the whole image without scrolling.

    2. One entry per user ID only please, which must be the personal work of the entrant.

    3. Entries should be "in line" within the thread (not as links to an image held somewhere else)

    4. Comments only on entries are welcome within the salon thread itself.

    5. After the close the curator will indicate a winner and a couple of runners up.

    6. The curators decision is final.

    7. Winners should be offered first refusal to choose the next theme and curate the next salon.

    8. If the winner is unable to curate the next salon the current curator may offer that "honour" to any willing volunteer, possibly the entrant in second or third place.

    9. These rules are to be copied and pasted with the new theme by the curator at the top of the new salon thread with a finish date and time.

    10. As with all photos posted on DPNow, copyright remains with the photographer and DPNow will not use them without permission.

    11. Don't forget to have FUN.

This started out as some Fairy Liquid!! Put it through a huge hoop and this is the result!

The fluidity of solids. A 2sec exposure gives the ferris wheel and bus a feeling of fluidity

                  Fluid Light

Maybe this is not within your parameters for this challenge, but here goes.
Friday evening, as we left a restaurant and walked through the rain to a favourite bar, my wife said, "It looks as though you could swim up there!" I looked, saw what she meant, and immediately thought of this challenge. The light, and the reflections, really looked fluid.

More as an interest photo than hopes of winning with this one. Taken about 10 years ago in the Indian Ocean (I think)

Glad to know beforehand that you are alive now. Were you sure at that time that you could come back safely?
The lifeboat seems to have a unique design btw. Or is it a kind of research boat rather than a lifeboat.
Lots of curiosity arise from your picutre.

                              Yoshi,

It was on a supertanker called Megara (you can just see the name on the bow of the lifeboat. It is actually a pretty standard lifeboat for supertankers these days.
