I seem to have come across an annoying issue with deleting photos from the HD in Lightroom. Under the normal course of events its no problem, however if I am to transfer a set of photos from my Laptop to my Desktop using Lightroom then there is a problem. Let me explain.
The accepted method of transferring a set of photos from one machine to another is use the command Export as Catalogue. This packages all the photos with the ircat catalogue files which include any alterations and adjustments that may have been made in the form of sidecar files. The resulting folder is then transferred to the other machine and put into LR using the Import from Catalogue command.
Now at this point I have all the images in Lightroom exactly in the state they were on the other machine. However I have found that if I want to Delete a photo and choose Delete from Disc, it will not let me, rather I can only Remove it from Lightroom, which is OK but not really what I want, especially if there are a lot of images I want to delete. In a scenario such as this I want Delete to mean Delete. So anyone any thoughts or comments?
