  • Lightroom 3 beta 2 observations

I've noticed that when adjusting the noise reduction, the preview screen is re-rendered even in fit-to-window size. Prior to this release, Lightroom, like most post processing applications, only really showed you any effect when viewing at 1:1 (or 100%) magnified view. The new luminance noise reduction looks very refined, although it's still easy to over-do it and I think I'd agree with reports that the sliders are more sensitive than they used to be.

I have just downloaded it today and tried the noise reduction. It was fine for the sky where it was needed, but it just about wiped out the mountains and all detail.

I need a selection tool. I suppose the mask will have to do until then.

I downloaded the 3.2 update the other day and love it. The noise reduction works really well. I had some photos that I had shot outdoors at the wrong iso and just could not seem to do anything with them. I tried the noise reduction and it worked a treat. Guess I know what I will be buying some time soon Thankfully I will only have to pay the upgrade price
