I suggest you calm down too. You said it's not been sneaked on my machine, I demonstrated why I think it has been sneaked on my machine. That's all.

I apologise if I've done something wrong by posting my view of a software company that sneaks software onto my computer without my knowledge. I thought the discussion of different viewpoints was what a discussion forum was about. If this is an "Apple can do no wrong" forum, then I'm clearly in the wrong place.

You defend Apple's tactics, I don't like their tactics. That's all the discussion is about, mate.

Whether or not the word sneaked is appropriate doesn't matter , the fact remains its software installed without knowledge of the computer owner, benign or not is irrelevant.
Does a PC require software to look for printers and other computers, I think not Microsoft will have attended to that with equivalent software within with Windows. Bonjour may be essential to a Mac I don't know, but I'm sure it isn't on a PC.
As to should we get hot under the collar about it, certainly, we should be asked clearly if we want anything, and not by default if we miss ticking a box. Explanation of what it does, easily accessible there and then and not have to do searches elsewhere to find out.
These big organisations get away with so much, with their fine print and the fact many people for some reason I cant imagine, see no harm in their uninvited invasions of our computers.

Coincidentaly while catching up with this thread Firefox threw up a popup telling me updates were available for itunes quicktime and safari. It then was just a case of unchecking the update boxes to avoid the updates. I have been using Vista for a month now and have only installed QT which probably brought with it an Apple update software programme which it sitting in the program listings. No sign of bonjour or any other rotten apples. I don't really know if my set up automatically asks about updates or not but it seems to the logical way to control what gets on to our PCs.
