Many thanks for offering to explain your minimalistic technique, Horacio.

I'm assuming you already know how to post a link to the pond Flora picture but of not - highlight the code beneath the picture then go to the browser toolbar and select edit/copy then paste it into your message.

Alternatively - you could click on the 'My Pics' {Open} link beneath the smilies and that will open a small window showing your gallery pictures. Choose 'Original Image' and 'Inline' from the drop-down menus within that small window then click on the picture you wish to show in the forum thread. that will display the picture within your message.

Wow, that's brilliant, thanks! I get the general idea about the layers and will certainly work at the method because I simply LOVE the final results you're getting with it. The image looks even better here in the forum as it shows clearly against the whiter background than in the gallery. I can well imagine how good the final print must look!

I'm not familiar with Fraser's Software. Is it essential to the technique or would it be possible to get similar results using my usual CS3 tools such as smart sharpening, high pass filtering etc in various stages of post processing.

Do you have a link for the Fraser plugin? I'm always interested to have a look and maybe a trial of good plugins.

I'd also be very interested to see the original and untouched picture too, if it isn't too much trouble.

Hallo Pol, The Bruce Fraser sharpening technique is described very profoundly in his book "Image sharpening with adobe photoshop CS2" from Adobe Press. The software is sell by Pixel Genius (photoshop.pluginsworld.com/plugins/adobe/719/pixel-genius/photokit-sharpener.html) and it works very easely. I use it permanently with very nice results.

Aha, I'm with you now. I have a link to the pixel genius software website so I'll probably d/l and give it a trial next week.

Thanks for the copy of the original too. You're so right, it certainly is very different to the final image! A fine 'before/after' demonstration of what can be achieved with vision and skilled processing. Also a fine example of how an apparently very simple scene can be the basis for an outstanding final print.

I'd like to see this beautiful 'Pond Flora' picture in the Golden Gallery actually . I don't know if I'm supposed to say that but, hey, what the heck. I've said it now! I'm suggesting you might like to consider submitting it for the GG because I find it so inspirational, as are so many of your artistic images.

A thousand thanks for being generous enough to share your technique too. It's given me a host of new thoughts and ideas to ponder and try out.
