Cannot remove Yahoo Toolbar

Just one problem, when I downloaded AVG 8.00 it came with Yahoo tool bar even though I said I did not want it.

I have tried to google to see how to remove it, but either the total answer is not there or I am missing it.

I use Vista OS and my browser is Firefox 2.0.0.14 and if anyone know how to remove it I should be grateful. I already have the Google toolbar and do not need another.

Isn't it simply a case of switching it off? View > Toolbars uncheck Yahoo & Google

You're too clever for your own good.

Actually it is called AVG Security Toolbar, so I guess we get AVG Free if Yahoo can piggy back on to it.

Anyway thanks Stephen, I don't like superfluous bits on my screen.

By using AVG it would appear you get Yahoo like it or not, the AVG tool bar incorporates Yahoo switch it off and both go.

I have switched it off and the toolbar has gone, but my AVG still says it is Active and that I am protected.

I will check tomorrow morning as it is supposed to update at 8 am.

Is there a Yahoo toolbar entry in your Programs list in Control Panel? If so, simply uninstall it.

No Ian there isn't. In fact the one I unchecked under View, was called AVG Security Toolbar, but when it was loaded in Firefox, it went across the page (as does the Google one), but in the script box it had Yahoo faded out, with AVG in bold at the side, so I suppose that is why Yahoo did not appear in my Program List.
