  • You learn something new everyday

I'm sure you all know I couldn't get my printer to work, but it is now sorted.

It was important as I wanted to print an e mail of a reservation for our holiday next Thursday.

I have another printer and normally share files, but with my computer being new, I haven't set up the network yet.

I thought I would have to burn it to a cd and then I thought I would try something. ... ...

I inserted a compact flash card into my card reader in the computer, saved the document to the cf card; inserted it into my husband's computer, loaded it into Word and it printed

How cool is that I was so excited.

I did not know I could use a compact flash card like that. Just thought though I had better format it again in my camera!

I suppose I was using it a bit like these flash drives except I have only seen them advertised and I think they have USB connections.

Anyway, enough for one day. Cheers.

Congratulations and sorry for my misunderstanding - I didn't read well a part of your post.
Something wrong often happens when you are in a hurry or when you are not in a good shape - so it's same in UK too!? - glad that was a happy ending.

        Hi Audrey

Sorry for the inaccurate info re the print drivers, but you got there in the end.

I'm quite surprised how many people don't realize they can us CF or any other card to transfer data, its simply a memory card and is used as such (usually SD cards) in palm computers, Sat Nav's and other portable devises that use transferable storage.
