I had the trial for a few days and was impressed. For some unknown reason it went awol after a few days. I didn't check but maybe it was just a 7 day trial.

couple of things I noticed @ PhotoDirector with a quick look

1st it doesnt run as smooth as Lightroom but it might be the issue of 3 years old laptop
2nd background removal tool is nice but only saves into PNG and the program don't open the file for later editing. Why to use PNG not TIFF?
3rd continent aware removal don't have intelligent box. Usually the pieces to be removed are small so no big issue... but the selection logic has been made in background removal so why not to add a small box there

Which version of Lightroom do you use on your three year old laptop? I doubt LR4 would run smoothly at all. It's fine on my Quad Core i7 laptop though.

Fair point about saving only to PNG - will look into that.

Not sure what you mean about an 'intelligent box'?

Yes, Adobe has reduced the price of LR probably in response to to the increasing number of competitor programs with familiar functionality.

Which version of Lightroom do you use on your three year old laptop? I doubt LR4 would run smoothly at all. It's fine on my Quad Core i7 laptop though.

Neither LR3 or 4 run very smoothly but PD is a bit slower. Actually that is to be expected with those extra features. As told before it's an ancient CPU issue not program so ignore that comment if you use modern hardware.

"Background removal" allows similar content automatic selection but "Continent aware" not. As told it's not a big issue as the removed objects are usually small. But the feature would sure speed up the process.

In general the program seems great piece and Adobe should be scared.

Just remembered one more thing but that might be the lack of time (10 mins) I spent with the program. While removing background it automatically leaves it transparent - didn't notice color selection but there was edge smoothing. So probably it has been meant to combine the background from another image (as saw the feature next to bg removal).

Edit: just checked that my comp runs below minimum requirements so the speed issue is normal to have :P

Just had a play with this program. It runs very well on the iMac but then it does have 3.4 GHz i7 quad core to drive it, the MacBook Pro a 2.4 GHz core duo doesn't run as well although it is smooth enough but a bit more waiting.

On the MacBook Pro I compared it with both LT4 & Aperture, LT4 is the more responsive of the three program's but not with everything. I would say each betters the others on some things. Can't go into detail untill I have compared more.

I would say anyone wanting to save a few pound compared with LT4 it will serve that photographer well. If however you are a Mac user Aperture downloaded from Apples App Store is even cheaper and very comprehensive in what it's capable off. I personally don't find it as comfortable to use as LR4 but that may be because I am still more familiar with LR4 as I haven't used Aperture that much.
