I'm trying to find a scene or shot that selective colouring adds more interest or atmosphere to! Possibly like Sepia toning conjures 'oldworldly atmosphere', I would like to think the contrasts of selective colouring dramatises 'here & now atmosphere' amongst highlighting specific aspects of a shot! I hope this manages to portray that! ( It's not about cricket either

Reason: Yellow only car
i realy like the first one , a tighter crop of only the car and carriage and this could be a hanger , not keen on the red words .
The cricket?? best keep quiet.

I thought this might have been about the Australian F1 Grand Prix
I certainly like the first one. I can see why you left the car's colour in, but why the sign in red too?

Hi Jocelyn,
I like both shots with a slight preference on the first one. I like the coloring too (2 colors together but not more, break the monotony of one), not including B&W of course.
My only comment is to crop slightly different.
In the first one crop a little more from the right and add it to the left to give a little more space to the tram. On the second one either make the building on the right to look straight or crop it off completely and add it again to the left.

I won't mention the dust...!! Er Ashes..again mate Only teasing! I'm not into cricket personally! Thanks for the comment. I actually did save one trial with yellow car only & it looked a bit funny!

Haha! My father is British, but I was born in New South Wales, so I could cheer for either side

I like the images, with a preference for the first, I do love mono, selective toning ans split toning, I feel that to color more than one area item causes a conflict, but that is purely my own personal opinion, the images are well processed and I feel you have achieved your goal, however I would like to see more zap/contrast in the mono area's. overall I like the images andd think they work.

Thanx for the comments. Yes it seems better to stick to 1 colour with selective colour!
Hi Jocelyn. Not commenting on the pictures , but as an aside - is the domed building at the left in the background, Flinders Street Station? It seems to me like it, as I used to pass through there years ago, morning and and evening to and from work in order to catch the old 'rattle and roll' trains. This was in the 60s so you may not remember those.

Hi Dennis,
You are 100% correct, the domed building is indeed Flinders St Station! The photo was taken right near the intersection of Flinders St & Swanston St. I would say its 1 of Melbourne's main stations! I was standing near an amazing new building called Federation Square! The photo depicts almost every commuting possibility, except unfortunately a train. I am told the trains you refer to as the old 'rattle & roll' were called the 'red rattlers' as they used to be red! I've only been in Australia 6 years, so only know the new express trains. I bet the trams in those days were great too! The other reason for tking the photo was for all the colours, the station being bright yellow too!
