    Re: Californian Wild Poppies

Lovely natural looking photograph of a lovely flower - I like the feature poppy set to the left of the frame with the head against that dramatic looking sky. The daisies add detail to the middle of the composition and I don't think the bare ground really detracts because that is very often how nature does it. The colour jumps from the screen. It gave me a lot of pleasure - but then I like 'flower' photographs. Hope you will post some more Trevor.

Interestingly enough my wife, (who is an artist and a pretty good photographer) really likes the portrait form. I am still drawn to the original because I think it forms a complete picture. In portrait form I think the attention is concentrated on the large poppy on the left and the poppy is not sufficiently well formed and interesting (except the colour) to sustain the attention. Welcome to the forum first of all Trevor.

Just wanted to say how much I like this picture. I personally like the inclusion of the barron land, kind of sets the scene. I also like the way in which you have presented the picture with the tasteful border.

      Lovely stuff!

      Cheers,
