My recreation of a classic image... As always, your comments are appreciated.

Hi. Nice picture but it looks to me to be wonky. The background looks like it is slanting away right to left. Her foot also looks way to big and is a distraction for me. Nice use of the light though I like it.

Do you have to pic in colour?

First of all I mispronounced the word "My 'recreation'"

According to the Thesaurus Recreation means:

'Activity engaged in for relaxation and amusement'

So did you mean that Graham or should the word have been hyphenated?

      ie Re-creation?

Any way, back to the critique. I agree with Ekkl about the sloping background. I like the mono presentation and the lighting. I don't think the hat works - it is too formal. A straw sunhat would be better. I think her right leg should have been bent, not the leg nearest the camera. Also, the image looks a bit soft to me, but perhaps that is intended for this type of photograph.

I like the fact that she appears to be intent on drawing (adding a pencil touch) to an already painted painting. Nice one.

A pleasant photo of pretty, and shapely young lady.

The background does not damage this image at all in my opinion.
She just looks as if she is following instructions from the photographer and as a result it looks too staged. I do enjoy the upright leg and the sunlight on her rather beautiful body in that dappled sort of way.
But just one thing could have arrested this; had you asked her to just paint and concentrate on the canvas it would then look as if she was totally unaware of your presence and would also be a better photograph.

I'm not familiar with the classic image you refer to so perhaps this is exactly the way you wanted her to look; as similar as possible to it.

As I see it this works very well for me. The background is not wonky as can be seen by the top of the railings. Maybe the other leg bent would have looked better, but my main problem with this leg is not having enough room above it. The expression on the lady's face tells me see is concentrating on the subject she is painting. Overall the lighting and finish to this image is to
be commended. I say well done it's one I would be very happy with.
Regards Ron. Live each day as if it was your last. One day you will be right. Down sized to Nikon s7000 compact camera.

Thank you all for your comments, they are honestly appreciated.

I'm pleased to be able to say that this image was selected to be entered into a competition that is held each year between 6 clubs of the East Anglian Federation of Photographic Societies. While my club didn't win this image was awarded the full 10 marks.

It was an entirely unintentional pun, but this type of photography is for me "recreational"

            Thanks
