    Re: Shallow DOF

Much too shallow for me , what are you trying to achieve ? nothing seems to be in focus .
The black background does not show the Depth of field as a pattened one would , for a shot like this i would have used a small aperture and made all the fruits stand out against a black back drop .
To achieve a 3D like DOF you need not only a large aperture but have the subject some way away from the background .
Have another go and try a lighter backdrop to show the DOF , i'd use a tripod and manual focus .
I've got some DOF shots if you need to see what can be achieved with a little practise .

        Hi molja,

From what I read from the EXIF info, you have used macro mode and full zoom. This combination doesn't work. Use either macro without zoom or use full zoom without macro.

Just, because they might be some misunderstandings of my statement that the combination of macro and full zoom doesn't work, I explain further what I forgot to explain earlier.

In most cameras and especially in point & shoot when macro and full zoom is used simultaneously there is a necessity of a minimum distance from the subject of approximately 70cm and up otherwise they cannot aquire focus.

So if you want to use both macro and full zoom on your Kodak DX7440, do so, but move away from the subject at a distance that a camera is able to acquire focus.

Check your camera's manual in the section that describes the macro mode. It should say approximately the minimum distance from the subject where both macro and full zoom can be used simultaneously successful. This is (or I suppose is) stated in all camera manuals and distances vary according to camera model.

          Regards
