Is this the Swallow Falls in North Wales?

Before we can make suggestions, I think it would be a good idea to find out where you think the picture needs improving. Was there any particular kind of effect you were hoping to achieve?

I've seen many worse waterfall/stream compositions

Your picture does exhibit the classic problem of blocked up shadows and burned out highlights.

You could adjust the exposure so that the shadows show more detail, but that would make the burned out areas worse. I'd try to lower exposure and then try to boost the shadows using something like Photoshop's Shadows and Highlights, while pulling in the highlights using the same tool.

This scene is quite a good candidate for multiple exposures and HDR (high dynamic range) processing, using Merge to HDR in Photoshop, or Photomatix, or other similar tools.

        What do you think?

Looks good to me - though we recommend asking the original poster (OP) first

If the OP would like to see a modified HDR image, since it is probable that he doesn't have Photomatix, please let me know.

OK. Well I took your picture and made two copies of it, one overexposed by 2 stops and one underexposed by two stops. I did this in Lightroom but any photo program would do. I then combined the three pictures in Photomatix. I just used default setting but the result is OK. It took perhaps 5 minutes in total.

The final result could no doubt be improved, the options in Photomatix are endless.

I don't much like HDR (high dynamic range) manipulation myself though I did buy Photomatix in an initial fit of enthusiasm but it can help sometimes.
