    Hello all,

I have been reading the site for a few weeks.

Now added my first post... what do people think of this picture... (Assuming I upload it correctly)

    Thanks

    Mark,

Welcome. As a first post this really is in with a bang and I hope you have started as you mean to go on...

A really nice capture of the Waltzer, taken at just the right moment to include the stationary box with its signs in the gap between the cars. Most of these type of shots are taken in an attempt to catch faces of the riders, but this is so much more about the ride. The colour, movement, lighting convey all the elements of the ride.

Well done - look forward to seeing more like this.

    Graham

      Thanks Graham,
A little luck was involved in this as of 10 shots at various settings this appeared the better one to me.

Hi Mark, and welcome to DPNow.
I really like this photo and would agree very much with Graham's comments. The picture is about colour and movement, the excitement and exhilaration of the spinning waltzer. You can almost hear and certainly imagine the music and the atmosphere. You have captured it just as the right moment and we know exactly what its all about

HI Mark, nice to have you on board! This forum isn't so much of a camera discussion place, so it's nice to get new people signing up who want to show and talk about their pictures

Fair grounds at night are a great source of vivid and impressive images and yours is a great example of one. And as you have found, one of the secrets of success it to take a lot of shots, vary your settings and with lucky you will get some good keepers.

I will have to post a couple that "need work" to pick up some pointers.
