    Hi,
An absolutely brilliant image in my opinion, no critique, I love it, make a super image on a Christmas card, and also for a wall.

I have looked and looked and just can't make my mind up.
Bit of a wasted post really. I'll take another look tonight.

At first glance I like this photograph, in fact I really like the tree with the contrast between bark and snow. The lines of the steps balance out the shaped door top too but, I think the proportions of the door, which you couldn't influence, make it look a little odd to my eye. The colouring however, is just right to me.

Ok - let it snow in your world but please don't let it blow in my direction.

This particular image speaks of "Dr Zhivago" to me. The window above the door is kinda "Russian" shaped - reminiscent of top of a spire on an Orthodox Church or other Russian building.

The Red Door - red and warm, homely escape from the brutal cold and steely forest behind? Alternatively 'Red' alongside the sharp and abrupt crop could be representative of "The Wall" - the abrupt partition, enclosures and divisions of the Cold War.

Superb range of tones and colours imho. I like this image and have spent a fair amout of time studying it. It's given me a lot of pleasure actually - even got me rummaging for the 'Zhivago' video - maybe I'll treat myself to the DVD.

I think Pol said it best about the picture giving pleasure. I have to agree. I would like to offer critique on every shot posted here if I can but on this occasion i wanted to post to say I keep coming back cause I love the tones the composition and of course that rich red door.

I haven't seen proper snow since my last skiing trip when I was 20. I am now 35 (what have I done with those years? Subject for another thread, possibly).

            Anyway great picture.

            best Regards

              Tell me about it Josh!

What ever happened to real snow rather than the effort of a drizzle, followed by wet horrible slush!

Super shot, I love the way the red door just pops out at you.
Reminds me of an advent calender.
