I really like it, but my eye keeps wanting the moon and its surroundings to be a bit further to the right, due to the reeds and cloud trail that are pointing left. Cropping the (very nice!) framing a bit tighter on the right would, I think, help the triangular effect.

My feeling is that the negative space works well where it's placed, in the outer field of vision. The eye is drawn nicely to where it's intended to be drawn ................... however ....... erm ........ that outer frame spoils the entire effect by detracting from the photo, pulls my eye to the frame and spoils the effect of the carefully composed image and (what I consider to be) very effective, good use of negative space.

I realise the outer frame isn't the picture - but I really do feel the frame spoils the presentation of the image in this particular situation.

I must say the border you have choosen does the photograph little justice. I like the photo and use of negative space but the glare of the moon on the water is too "solid" and uniform, but you had no control over that.

Jon, I like the concept of what you have tried to do here. I suspect you have darkened the scene, perhaps in camera so as not to blow out the moon etc., but perhaps there has been further darkening in the software, I sense some vignetting. I love the small bridge/jetty and its reflections, almost Japanese in its feel.

I feel though that I may have tried the scene in Portrait mode, as in the case of this Landscape version I could happilly lose at least a sixth off the right and left.

I may be totally wrong in your eyes but I would really love to have your own feelings on the image. BTW are you sure this is the moon

Been a few comments so I'll leave my thoughts on the border and moon placement out. I wanted to comment on the smoothnes of the picture, almost like it has an oily sheen. Very nice.

The photograph has lots of atmosphere and really works. I would like to see a portrait version. One thing I have been doing is every time I take a landscape shot in landscape mode I also take a couple in portrait as well.

I like this image and the atmosphere I do love mono and what can be achieved with it, and the freedom of expression and interpretation you have. I to would like to see a portrait version. and I also would like to see a version with some"Just a little" detail in the dark shadows, a little impression of texture. just to compare.
