  • Photoshop experiment

I've just posted my entry to the new Salon competition, but I was torn between two entries! I thought I'd post the other one here for some critique.

This image has had a lot more post-processing than I usually do. Although I used a fairly long exposure, the water wasn't as flat as I'd like it to have been, so I applied motion blur in Photoshop. I've never tried anything like that before, so it was all done through guesswork. Does it look okay? Is there any way I could improve the image?

    Thank you.

      Re: Photoshop experiment

Sometimes not saying much about an image, put up for comment, is seen to indicate that there is not a lot worth praising. Here the opposite applies...

This is a really good image that evokes feelings and a desire to be there...

      Very well presented.

          Thank you everyone.

I was thinking the water looked a bit odd, there's a big light patch that doesn't seem to correspond with the sky? I'm wondering if the motion blur I applied has caused this.

            Looks good to me ...

If only to be really picky .... dark patch in top left corner, but apart from that...
            crackerjack shot !!

            Impressed

            Well Done ...

That is one great picture. Apart from the very dark top left corner I think it is spot on.

What a smashing image. I love it, and think it is pretty much perfect!

I would love to see the original starting image....although.....that may be giving your secrets away!

Thanks everyone. Am I allowed to post links to other sites? The image is here - in the 'comments' section is the original image, and further down, more info on the processing I used.

I received quite good comments on the site I've linked to, but to be honest, people never seem to be too critical on that particular site, which is why I posted it here too. I hope no one minds.

the original, quite frankly, isnt anything too special, but you have a created a belter!
