Sure is and quite a nic pic too

Have you seen Callie's thread on this self same bird?

Here is where you can display your images and seek the comment, advice and, maybe, constructive critique of your work. Only post your images here if you are happy for frank feedback. If in doubt, use the beginners board instead. Only post your comments here if you feel you can make a constructive and polite contribution in response to what is, for some, a leap of faith in exposing their work to your critical comment.

Beautiful colours and some will like the neutral background (I personally would like to see some nice greenery out of focus).

The position of this beautiful bird is not ideal and I can't see its eyes very clearly. But it is in focus - a good start which can be improved on.

I hope you will start a gallery here and then you will be able to feature your photos in full rather than as attachments. See the guide for doing this.

          Hi there Lourens,
It is a beautiful shot of a kingfisher. They are small, if its the Malachite Kingfisher found in Kwa Zulu Natal & Highveld etc. I love the clarity of image & colours. I have seen them in the wild a number of times when living in South Africa.

Fanstastic colours. I do like the neutral background but would of like you to have taken a lower perspective so we could see the bird fully side on.

            Best Regards

Definately a Kingfisher, and a super shot at that!

If I was to be uber critical, I would say that it could do with a little catchlight in the eye, and a lower view would have been preferable.

However, that said, as it stands, its a wonderful shot, with vibrant colours. I like the neutral background as the bird is so vibrant it doesnt need a green, or natural backdrop.

The bird is very small, and very shy, so you have acheived something that I have wanted to for years. Well done, this is great!

The colours are stunning and a great focus.
Not to keen on the bland background though
